Laughter is the BEST abdominal workout—stir in your favorite music and it’s a recipe for movement and FUN! At 2 Claps 1 Snap, we really believe in the importance of making fitness fun. Fun will sound appealing even on days when it’s hard to get up and get moving. Instead of thinking about how hard your workout is or how badly you wish you could take a nap, your brain will be distracted with the good time you’re having. A huge benefit of exercise is the stress relief aspect, so we wouldn’t want you to be stressed just thinking about going to class! This is why dance is such a great way to get in some physical activity—you’ll be so interested in learning the moves and having fun dancing to the music that you won’t even notice you’re working hard.

Miss Anna recently had the opportunity to teach a short and fun dance to a group of Microsoft research interns, showing them the basics of movement as well as the importance of warming up and stretching. Most of all though, she showed them just how fun exercise can be!

During the event, we started by warming up our bodies, making sure to stretch out a little to help mobilize the body after a day spent at the computer. Taking it step-by-step is the key to learning dances and is a fun way to exercise your mind while keeping it enjoyable and carefree. As pieces were added on, we loved seeing how the students got more into it and gained confidence in themselves.

Once the full routine was taught and had been practiced a few times, it was awesome to hear students asking to run it “just one more time” full-out with music. It clearly showed how the fun of dancing distracted them from the fact that they were exercising.

We never want you to dread your workouts, which is why it’s so important to be doing something you enjoy. Dance can be extremely carefree and liberating, allowing you to be expressive and creative even in a fitness arena. It’s less intense than a hardcore workout class, making it perfect for both beginners easing into the fitness world and seasoned vets who want a great stress reliever while adding little extra fun to their lives. We were so honored to be able to share how fun wellness can be with a new generation of Microsoftees, hopefully inspiring them to continue that wellness journey for years to come.
